BAJCCA began the way most of our families began in Canada: a few households from Bihar and Jharkhand who did not want to keep Chhath alone. Today we are thousands, in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Oakville, Milton, Hamilton and beyond, and BAJCCA is a registered non-profit, run entirely by volunteers.
We prepare the Prasad together, we cook and serve together, and we carry the cost together. Students who arrived last month sit beside grandparents who have been here for decades. Our children hear Chhath geet, eat Thekua made by their own families and learn where they come from.
